In the barber’s chair

Warm shave and a little trim

Bunny calendar

Context:  By some estimates there are 500,000 single proprietorship businesses in Greater Tokyo. Sometimes I feel that 499,000 are barbershops. On every street corner, often between street corners, red white and blue swirly poles beckon patrons in need of a cut. For about $25 USD you can get a nice three-and-nine timeless cut and a soothing saving orchestrated by a professional who cares about his craft.

. . . and in January barbers (and most other small business owners) will hand you a little card along with your change. The card has a full year calendar in 0.5 point font to denote public holidays and the clipper’s vacation periods. Our local barbershop adds a little something extra, the animal of the new year’s zodiac. I just got the RABBIT!
