Blossoms of Springtime

Gently line our fields and streets

Uber drivers, all

Context: Each year in early March Nature offers subtle queues to the imminent Spring season. The tightly wound fuchsia buds of azaleas begin to pepper the side streets of West Tokyo (they will sprout into full bloom in April). Plum blossoms, deep pink in hue, offer a preview of the spectacular cherry trees that take center stage around the Equinox.

March is traditionally graduation season, and public schools, usually the practices venues for indoor soccer, volleyball, kendo and gymnastics, give way to ceremonies galore. As a result, hard working mothers and fathers are forced to drive their athletic children far afield to make sure that practice continues.
